Balmain is French fashion house with headquarter located in France. It was founded by Pierre Balmain in 1946. The brand was acquired by investment fund backed by the emir of Qatar in 2016 for 563 million dollar. The company serves worldwide with its variety range of products that includes Haute Couture, Ready to wear, Jewellery, Accessories and Perfume. Currently (from 2011) Olivier Rousteing is the head designer of Balmain. Pierre Balmain took birth in 1914 in France.
His father runs a drapery business while his mother owned a fashion boutique. He wanted to study architecture but ended learning designing dresses. He worked as a freelance artist for atelier Robert Piquet. Balmain served in French Air Force and worked at Lucien Lelong after the peace was declared. During 1930s the designer opened his own fashion house under his name and released his first collection in 1945 and first fragrance in 1949. During World War II, Balmain is know to be the king of French fashion.
