Vinessa Shaw is a Hollywood actress who was born on 19th July 1976 popularly known for her work in comedy blockbuster Hocus Pocus (1993). Her father’s name is Larry and mother’s name is Susan Damante who was also an actress. Shaw was raised as a Buddhist. She pursued her education from Barnard College from New York but didn’t continue her college to make a career in acting. She married Kristopher Gifford in 2008 and the couple is expecting their first child.
In 1981 she made her debut with a small budget movie Home Sweet Home. She gained a huge popularity after she played the character of Allison in Hocus Pocus. In 90’s she appeared in various independent films like Lady Bugs (1992), Coyote Summer (1996), Eyes Wide Shut (1999) etc after which she chose to do only a handful of films which include The Weight of Water (2000), 40 Days and 40 Nights (2002), Melinda and Melinda (2004) and the Hills Have Eyes (2006).
She has also appeared in various television series like Long Road Home (1991), Fallen Angels (1993), Bereft (2004), House (2010) etc.
